Package Contents

1. Fire Awareness

In this module the student firstly learns about the nature of fire and smoke and common signage that they will see around their workplace is explained. The student explores potential fire hazards – what to do in case of emergency and how to recognise the correct extinguisher and how to use it. Every workplace has extinguishers by law, what is the point of having these if everyone doesn’t know which one to use on which type of fire? The feedback we have received often describes how surprised the student is by their lack of knowledge – and how much better they feel after the training.

2. Manual Handling

In order for students to understand Manual Handling techniques it’s important that they understand why they need them. This module starts with a simple explanation of how the back works and how easy it is to hurt it – it then moves onto how to prepare for a lift (there’s no point knowing how to lift something – if you then trip down the stairs whilst carrying it). Manual Handling is then demonstrated using clear video with several scenarios. A really refreshing look at Manual Handling – not an old bloke in a brown coat in a warehouse.

3. Display Screen Equipment Training

Everybody who works in front of a screen must do this. The feedback has been stunning – it has, without a doubt, changed the way people work. In this module we look at posture and how to best set up your existing chair and desk, its really simple – (you wouldn’t drive your car without the seat correctly adjusted) – many people put their bodies through hell when a simple adjustment would cure it. We also look at your working environment, lighting, temperature and noise. There is a section on simple exercises that will help relieve stress and strain– a section on mobile devices and a really useful part of this module is the Risk assessment where every user can assess their workstation – the information is then collated into a global report for the entire company.

4. Slips Trips and Falls Prevention

You’ve done it sort it out – this module is a real eye-opener. We were repeatedly asked for this module from our customers. When we started researching the training we thought, “this is all a bit obvious - just common sense” well we were right! However half of all accidents at work result from slips trips and falls so this module re-focuses what we know, or what we think we know. This training is a clear way for you to tell your staff to be careful, look out for hazards – and REALLY importantly, if they see a hazard, take responsibility and DO something about it!
