This online Onboarding Training course has been designed for managers who contribute to and implement an onboarding process. They will learn all about onboarding – what it is, why it’s important, and who’s responsible, among other things.

The CPD accredited course can be completed in just 35 minutes and provides a printable certificate upon completion of the end-of-training test.

was easy to follow but felt some of it was repetitive

Thorough but makes some assumptions

The onboarding training is fairly detailed and invaluable for conveying the importance of planning for employee's arrival before they start, as well as ensuring that an appropriate level of structure and clarity is present throughout their induction period. The only slight downside of this training is that it makes certain assumptions regarding who will be in charge of a task - e.g. stating definitively that HR will consider employee pension eligibility or (when it may in fact be Finance) or arrange DBS checks (which may not be relevant). It would be better if these statements were left flexible and indicate who may be responsible for these tasks rather than outright confirming and potentially being wrong.

Informative

The course provided a very clear structure and ideas on how an On Boarding Plan could be presented with the importance being on making any new employee feel comfortable, loved and belonging.

Brilliant informative course

Brilliant course that gave some ideas on how to make an induction process better and settling goals for 30, 60 and 90 days and getting better feedback on inductions

Why is this training important?

Business benefits

The psychologist Abraham Maslow has suggested that humans have a set of 5 needs that must be met in order for us to thrive as individuals – and he believed one of those is “love and belonging”. We see this need in action all the time; whenever we meet someone for the first time, what do we do? We try to get to know them. We ask them questions to find common ground – do we have shared interests, tastes, and beliefs? Is there a shared culture to which we both belong?

When a new starter joins an organisation, they’re joining a new community and a new culture. If they don’t feel like they belong, they’re going to struggle to fit in and find their place, which means they won’t feel comfortable contributing and they won’t be able to flourish - they may even decide to leave and a real opportunity will be missed on both sides. This is why it’s crucial to have an effective onboarding process to welcome new colleagues, to help them feel like a valued member of the team, and to encourage them to perform to the best of their ability.

As a manager, whether you’re contributing to an onboarding process for the first time, or improving an existing one, this course will help you make that all important first impression.
