About this course
The Care Certificate was developed by Skills for Care, Health Education England, and Skills for Health to set a clear benchmark for care quality in England. It’s designed for workers new to health and social care, to make sure that they understand their role, meet professional standards, and have the skills to deliver safe and respectful care.
This training brings together all 16 standards into one course. Learners will understand their role and responsibilities, the importance of personal development, and how to uphold their duty of care. They will explore equality, diversity, inclusion, and how to work in a person-centred way, while developing effective communication skills and respecting privacy and dignity.
The course also covers essential practical topics, including nutrition and hydration, awareness of mental health, dementia and learning disabilities, safeguarding adults and children, basic life support, health and safety, infection prevention, and the importance of handling information correctly. Finally, learners will understand the value of working collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to provide consistent, high-quality care.

Why is this training important?
Compliance
The Care Certificate sets the benchmark for quality in health and social care – but completing it can be time-consuming when the 16 standards are taught separately. This course brings them all together into a single, comprehensive programme, making it easier for your organisation to deliver consistent training and for your staff to develop their skills efficiently. By having all the standards in one place, learners can see how each area connects, helping them to apply their knowledge more effectively in real-world care situations.
For employers, this means you can be confident that new staff are meeting nationally recognised requirements without the need to manage multiple separate courses. It’s a cost-effective, time-efficient way to get new recruits up to speed, making sure that they meet compliance expectations from their very first day.
Most importantly, the Care Certificate is about upholding excellent care standards that protect the dignity, safety, and wellbeing of those who rely on your services. By embedding these standards into your staff’s daily practice, you create a culture of respect, compassion, and professionalism that benefits both the people receiving care and the reputation of your business.
