About this course
By raising awareness and knowing how to act, you can help protect vulnerable children from harm.
Our Child Exploitation Awareness training course provides the knowledge and confidence you need to recognise the signs of exploitation and take the right steps to safeguard children.
You’ll explore the two main types of exploitation — Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE) — and learn how perpetrators groom, manipulate, and control their victims. The course also highlights common risk factors, warning signs, and the long-term consequences of exploitation.
Most importantly, you’ll learn what to do if you’re concerned about a child. This includes how to respond if a child confides in you, how to record and report concerns, and how to follow safeguarding procedures correctly.
By the end of the course, you’ll feel confident in spotting the warning signs, responding appropriately, and playing your part in keeping children safe.

Why is this training important?
Compliance
Every year, thousands of children are identified as victims of sexual and criminal exploitation, and many more remain unseen. Exploitation thrives in secrecy, which means that raising awareness is absolutely vital.
This child exploitation awareness training is soimportant because it gives you the knowledge and skills to recognise when something is wrong and to take action quickly. You will learn how to spot the early warning signs of exploitation, understand the differences between Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE), and know what steps to take if you are concerned about a child’s safety.
Legislation
Children Act 1989: This foundational law emphasises the welfare of the child as paramount. It provides the framework for safeguarding children and outlines duties for local authorities to protect children from harm.
Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006: This Act established the framework for vetting individuals working with children, aiming to prevent unsuitable people from gaining access to them.
Other laws, like the Children and Young Persons Act prevents cruelty to children under the age of 16, and the Child Abduction Act can prosecute perpetrators based on kidnapping and imprisonment.
The training also shows you how to respond if a child discloses abuse to you, how to record and report concerns through the correct safeguarding channels, and how to challenge harmful myths and attitudes that may prevent children from getting the help they need.
Most importantly, you will be equipped to take meaningful action to protect children from exploitation and to help create safer environments.
