This training course is broken down into 3 sections

Section 1
Learn what exploitation really means, how perpetrators groom and control children, and who may be at risk. This section also introduces different models of exploitation and explains why children cannot give true consent.
Section 2
Explore the two main types of exploitation in detail. You’ll cover Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) including how it happens, legal definitions, and warning signs, and Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE), as well as the impact both types of exploitation can have on victims’ lives.
Section 3
Find out what to do if you’re worried about a child. This section covers how to respond if a child discloses abuse, how to record and report concerns, and the importance of following safeguarding procedures. You’ll also learn how to provide ongoing support in a way that helps children feel safe, valued, and empowered.

Legislation
Children Act 1989: This foundational law emphasises the welfare of the child as paramount. It provides the framework for safeguarding children and outlines duties for local authorities to protect children from harm.
Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006: This Act established the framework for vetting individuals working with children, aiming to prevent unsuitable people from gaining access to them.
Other laws, like the Children and Young Persons Act prevents cruelty to children under the age of 16, and the Child Abduction Act can prosecute perpetrators based on kidnapping and imprisonment.
The training also shows you how to respond if a child discloses abuse to you, how to record and report concerns through the correct safeguarding channels, and how to challenge harmful myths and attitudes that may prevent children from getting the help they need.
