Questions too easy

I sat through this course without taking much notice, but passed because the questions mainly have an obvious correct answer. The course also conflates mental health with mental illness. If I go for a run and get out of breath that is not a physical health problem, let alone evidence of physical illness. Same if I get anxious before an exam. My organisation made attendance compulsory, but if I want mental health advice I can go to my doctor. I agree with Joanna Lumley that people are jumping on the mental illness bandwagon. Alcoholism is also a problem for some people, but I hope my organisation does not introduce compulsory alcoholism training for all its staff. Waste of staff time.

Not the best

I think some elements are good however some elements seem patronising or could be triggering to someone already suffering from poor mental health. For example:It mentions about eating disorders and then goes on to talk about which foods are good for you and which foods are bad, listing examples like fatty foods, salty foods or sugary foods. For those struggling with an eating disorder this information can do a lot of harm and cause a lot of issues. Also, the arty, dramatic images that showcase 'What could cause mental illness' e.g. Grief, financial struggles and relationship issues are unnecessary and makes these things seem daunting by adding dark effects to the images etc. There are sections that say things like 'if your having negative thoughts try having positive ones' this over simplify's peoples struggles, and does not actually sympathise with how hard these changes can be for someone with mental health issues.I have a few other things to say but fear that I will run out of space. Such as the characters that represent mental illness and the discussion around 'what is actually a weakness when it comes to mental illness' etc

Too repetitive to the Anxiety Course

Sorry but have just lost 40 minutes of my life that will not be coming back. Why could this and the Anxiety Course not have been combined.

Patronising and simplistic

Extremely patronising and minimising of mental health issues, suggesting that things can be helped/resolved by breathing?! As someone with mental health problems, that can't be solved with therapy/positive thinking its actually an offensive course, very upsetting to have to complete as its worse than useless.

Assessment is simplistic.

As I needed to repeat this course, I would have appreciated the opportunity to go directly to the assessment/quiz, rather than going through the content again. Honestly, it was so discouraging that I simply muted the audio, clicked play and worked on another screen while the content played out. The assessment was simplistlc, with answers self-evident and not requiring any real thought.

brings back memories

i understand depression but brought back memories when i suffered from it hence why i dont like speaking about it. people deal with it in different ways

This offers nothing new.

Courses such as these cater only for those experiencing mild symptoms, it offers nothing for people with more serious conditions and the whole thing falls over in the work place because HR and management always discriminate against sufferers by refusing to understand that the needs of those suffering are often very different.
