I teach the theory behind this training programme - cognitive therapy/re-structuring; and Beck's original Identify, Challenge and Change Model for depression. Hence I am aware of the inherent weaknesses in using cognitive re-structuring as a way of changing behaviour. People often exist (quite happily) in a state of cognitive dissonance where their thoughts are not congruent with their behaviour. Emotions need addressing too, and some people may need to explore previous experiences that have shaped their behaviour.

This introduction to the idea of unconscious bias is quite functional, but also very basic and low-level. I can't say it taught me anything I did not already know.

i don't understand what this is it does not take into account we are all different and makes sweeping accusations of my views on life people and the universe which is so biased it makes a nonsenses of the the topic the course is supposed to be addressing if anything it creates the conditions for bias. why don't you have minus ratings???

I found some of the content contradictory, within the training it was highlighted that a bias is not always wrong but acknowledging that we have bias is useful as long as we question it. Baring this in mind when I was asked the question “it is important to use past experiences to make a judgement and decision about new experiences” incorrectly as I believe this to be true I think the answer is either misleading or incorrect as if we don’t use past experiences we can’t be challenging our view?
