I have done this course several times and it could do with being changed more each year to keep us on our toes.
The tests could be completed very easily because the multiple choice distractors were so obviously amiss. The course content itself was fine.
The system is not easy to use- I could not get out and have it confirmed that I had completed!
The training was detailed in the signs of abuse to look for but unfortunately it didn't give a balanced view by mentioning any other reasons why a child may be showing some of these signs Eg. they may be on the autistic spectrum. As both a parent and an aunt to autistic children I found it rather offensive that you are training people to see many of the signs of autism as being signs of emotional abuse without giving a more balanced viewpoint of why a child may be showing these behaviour traits. I also found the questions in the test seemed to be missing the point and concentrating on the theory of "What is the second of the 2 R's?" rather than "What should you do if you suspect abuse?" - maybe the types of questions that came up in my test were not representative of them all but it didn't leave a good impression. I've recently done the UK Sport Child Protection and Safeguarding seminar and feel that it was much better than this.
the program itself was easy to understand
The same lady has just talked to me for an hour! The visual element was not needed when it is delivered like this.
The delivery was monotonous. There were some useful images but mainly it was one person reading a script. It also took longer than the suggested 55 minutes.
Course was too long. Took longer to complete than what states. Needs refining for different groupls who do not need all information
This & the Adult one need to be. cut down to become manageable. Whoever completed it in 53 minuets. Must have been well trained beforehand & wearing headphones not sat in an office.
