  1. 1 Planning
  2. 2 Time-bandits
Watching an hour glass - Time Management Training
Planning - Time management course content
SECTION 1

The course begins by looking at ways to effectively plan and manage your time effectively. It helps you set long-term goals, which in turn help you create medium-and short-term steps to get there, stripping away anything which wastes your time.

The second half of the first section looks at some of the methods you can employ to help you prioritise your To-do list; from very simple to more advanced techniques for deciding which of your daily tasks take priority.

Time-bandits - Time management course content
SECTION 2

The second section of the time management training course is all about those interruptions or periods of distraction which waste your time; we call them Time Bandits. The first half of this section looks at ways to deal with external time bandits – anything which originates outside of yourself and needlessly takes up your time.

The final half of this section looks at how to cope with internal time bandits – things which you do to waste your own time. This includes dealing with procrastination and why multitasking is a myth.

About this course

Managing time is important to any business, it is our most precious resource, and once it’s gone it can never be recovered. Yet despite this, we’re not very good at using it wisely. It’s estimated that as much as 80% of our time is spent dealing with trivial tasks, or simply wasted as we keep putting off that all-important work we should be doing.

This Time Management training course will equip you with the tools you need to take control over your time so you can spend longer doing the things that really matter, whether that is with time management best practices such as time blocking techniques or time-saving practices. It will teach you how to effectively plan your goals, manage your schedule, and avoid distractions and the pitfalls of procrastination. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to time management so this course offers a number of different tips and strategies for you to choose from, so no matter your working style, there’ll be something for you.

Really Interesting Course.

I really like the idea of categorising tasks and acting accordingly

Generic and contradictory
RatingRatingRatingRatingRating

The core competencies of activity logs and planning were well presented. The rest was meaningless twaddle. The opening sentence is just wrong - Animals are time aware. The reward section is on the verge of becoming a time bandit!

Very pragmatic and practical guidance
RatingRatingRatingRatingRating

A very good session on the things that waste time and how to tackle them. I found the present self and the future self a very good example and explanation

This was valuable training.

This will benefit myself and the team I work with.

Inconsiderate of neurodiversity
RatingRatingRatingRatingRating

I understand that for some, these simple steps can be useful. However, I use many of the methods discussed and I still struggle with time management. I believe I have ADHD and I found the training patronising as it told me what to do that I'm already doing. The training didn't consider how neurodiversity may impact time management skills, or how different abilities might impact how someone is able to carry out tasks. I didn't think it was very inclusive. I think there also needs to be a section that explains how people with neurodiversity, where we can find specific support for our needs, and to explain how people can work with neurodiverse colleagues.

Good reminders

Good basic reminders about how to make the most of my day and setting goals.

inportant skill to master

Great

Relevant, but approach too narrow
RatingRatingRatingRatingRating

Relevant topic, but training more suited to business environments than further education. Staff in education settings may not be afforded same opportunities to work away from main workplaces, cannot avoid disruptions to working days affecting time management performances.
