SECTION 1

SECTION 2

Now we look at the four key areas for tackling bias - self-awareness, acknowledging bias, challenging bias, and training our minds to think differently. We look at stereotyping, body language (micro-actions), and the dangers of making assumptions.

SECTION 3

Section 3 looks at best practice for shortlisting CVs, conducting interviews, and hiring and promoting staff – we look at the common mistakes that are often made when management rely on their unconscious biases to help with these decisions. We also take a look at team dynamics and the importance of an Inclusive Culture.

About this course

A bias is a judgement or opinion that’s based on our own thoughts about someone or something - rather than the reality or the facts. Biases are natural (we can’t help having them) but they shouldn’t go unchallenged.

We have conscious biases which are biases we’re aware of, and we have unconscious biases which we’re unaware of - but they are stored away in our mind and they still affect what we think and how we behave.

This Unconscious Bias Training course has been created to explain how you can identify your own unconscious biases and any that exist in your workplace. It looks at how they affect decision making, working relationships and your organisation’s culture. Fundamentally, this training offers practical tools for reducing the negative impact that unconscious bias can have on your organisation.

By identifying, challenging and reducing bias, management can create a more communicative, diverse and successful workforce.

This course works in conjunction with Unconscious Bias for Employees, and it’s the perfect partner for both Equality & Diversity, and Bullying & Harassment for Managers.

Really good and informative course. Even though I was well aware of some of this already, I was still able to take lots from it. I think if a lot more managers are open to taking tests like this, then the work industry will slowly over time become a better place.

Great, visual and in depth.

Really well put together. I learnt a lot about common types of bias. I enjoyed the speaker's style, she was well-spoken and well presented. I also liked that she was a woman and of colour (more relatable and I listened more as I imagine she had lived experience of experiencing negative/positive bias). As an opportunity for improvement, you might consider including some specific and explicit illustrations and examples of Racial Bias given the recent social upheavals lead by Black Lives Matters.

I really liked the short-form format. Each section was well broken down and explained, with good visual prompts and a good explanation by the presenter. Having optional closed captions also helped (although they did sometimes go over on-screen text and images). Little questions worked through it kept engagement going.

really intresting and gets you thinking
