Covered in this course
This training course is broken down into 3 sections
- 1 Sexual Harassment Awareness
- 2 Identifying Sexual Harassment
- 3 Addressing Sexual Harassment
The opening section of this Sexual Harassment Awareness course teaches the user exactly what is meant by the term “sexual harassment”. It also helps the user to understand the types of sexual harassment and what negative effects it might have on an individual.
The second section of this course presents the user with multiple scenarios where a scenario may or may not be considered sexual harassment. These scenarios focus particularly on the “grey areas” of sexual harassment.
The final section of this course teaches the user about the two stages of addressing sexual harassment. Users will learn about the formal route they can take, the legal route and how they can handle uncomfortable situations. The course also offers information on external services that could be of use.
About this course
Sexual harassment is defined as “any unwanted and repeated behaviour of a sexual nature”.
With roughly 40% of women and 18% of men having experienced unwanted sexual behaviour in the workplace, there is evidently more to be done to eradicate sexual harassment.
All employees should be able to go to work and feel appreciated, motivated, and safe. With that said, a workplace should do everything in its power to promote dignity and respect amongst colleagues.
This Sexual Harassment Awareness Training course should be used as a tool to raise awareness about a serious and often difficult issue in UK workplaces. This course shouldn’t just be used as a ‘reactive’ measure, it can be given to all staff even if there is no existing or past sexual harassment in the workplace.
This Sexual Harassment Training works in conjunction with our Bullying and Harassment in the Workplace for Management and Bullying and Harassment for Employees training courses.

A GOOD COURSE
Seems to make perfect sense, delivered in a easy to understand format.
Interesting knowing what’s acceptable and what’s not
Nothing I didn’t really already know but worth having a refresher on. I mix of 2 different talkers together with videos made it a little more engaging

Why is this training important?
It's important that you comply with the law and know the ways in which it affects you and the way you work.
Employees are protected by a few different acts of parliament if they feel they’re being sexually harassed at work:
- The Sex Discrimination Act protects people from discrimination on the grounds of sex or marital status.
- The Criminal Justice and Public Order Act made intentional harassment a criminal offence.
- The Protection from Harassment Act made it a criminal offence to pursue conduct that leads to harassment, or fear that violence will be used. If convicted, someone can be sentenced to up to six months in prison, or get a fine of up to £5000.
- The Equality Act ensures the workplace is a fair environment for all employees, whilst respecting the protected characteristics of each individual.
- The Health & Safety at Work Act ensures that employers are responsible for the health, safety and welfare of all employees while they’re at work.
A British survey revealed that over 50% of women and 20% of men in the UK have been sexually harassed at work.
Often being deemed as “harmless banter”, sexual harassment is far from it and can have seriously negative effects for individuals and organisations.
It can lead to victims suffering from a range of mental, emotional, and physical health problems, which in turn result in lower productivity, absenteeism, a higher employee turnover, and often legal costs.
This course has been designed to help identify, prevent, and remove sexual harassment from the workplace, helping to ensure that workplaces continue to make their employees feel appreciated, motivated, and safe, whilst also saving your organisation time, money, and its reputation.
