in depth and clearly explained
RatingRatingRatingRatingRating

This course covers equality, diversity and inclusion, the protected characteristics and harassment and victimisation in depth and also in a clearly explained way with clear practical examples. The tone is supportive. There is a supplementary activity on 'unconscious bias' - I was surprised that ethnicity/race was not mentioned here.

I am totally against this type of training! I have been working for 53 years with a very short break for having my children. I have ALWAYS treated everyone I work with with the utmost respect, have never had a complaint made against me and feel very strongly that this type of training is extremely patronising and unnecessary.

Why is this training important?

Compliance

It's important that you comply with the law and know the ways in which it affects you and the way you work.

Equality and Diversity is about acknowledging that everybody has a right to fair and equal treatment, irrespective of age, gender, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic. Originally, workplace legislation surrounding these rights was considered something of a ‘grey area’; with around 116 separate laws existing under the broad umbrella of ‘equality and diversity’. In October 2010, these were, at last, merged into one coherent act: The Equality Act 2010.

The Equality Act includes 'Protected Characteristics' which are differences between people which cannot be used as reasons to treat them any differently. Doing this would be against the law.

The Equality Act also includes 'Prohibited Conduct' which are actions that people are not allowed to do to each other on the basis of any of the protected characteristics. This is illegal too.

Protected characteristics include: age; disability; gender reassignment; marriage and civil partnership; pregnancy and maternity; race; religion or belief; sex; sexual orientation.

Equality and diversity in the workplace training is designed by iHasco to promote fairness, respect and equal treatment in the workplace no matter what race, gender or religion that employees may follow. This course works in line to raise awareness of the protected characteristics which are outlined in The Equality Act 2010, addressing discrimination, harassment, and unfair treatment based on factors such as age, disability, gender equality, race equality, religion, and sexual orientation.
Equality and diversity in the workplace training is the best way to foster an inclusive work environment. To create a respectful and harmonious workplace it is recommended that EDI training is conducted on a regular basis. Whether this is on a 3-month basis or 6, this will allow all new employees to be onboarded into your company culture.
EDI training efficacy can be measured using a variety of methods, including participant feedback surveys, post-training equality impact assessments, and tracking diversity and inclusion measures inside the organisation. The regular review enables continual progress and guarantees that the programme achieves its goals.
