About this course

Every year thousands of lives are ruined by alcohol and drug abuse. Private life suffers, health suffers, jobs suffer.

In the UK, thousands of people seek treatment every year for drug and alcohol abuse. Substance dependency is a serious problem that damages the health of individual users, affects their relationships with family and friends, can be dangerous to their colleagues, and even has wider knock-on effects that impact tax-payers and society as a whole.

It results in as many as 17 million lost working days every year, costs £6 billion in productivity, and treatment for alcohol and drug-related health issues and injuries puts a huge strain on an already overstretched NHS.

Just one person in the workplace affected by drugs or alcohol can put everyone at risk; this course aims to raise awareness of substance abuse so that it can be dealt with before it becomes a problem at work.

This Drug and Alcohol Training course is intended to raise awareness about substance abuse and the effects it has on users and the workplace, it doesn’t replace face-to-face training which is needed in addition to complete the all-round skills and knowledge to be able to carry this forward practically within your organisation.

Business benefits

In England, there are over 40,000 hospital admissions every year for drug and alcohol-related mental health and behavioural disorders. Substance misuse has an enormous impact on private lives, personal relationships, and people’s workplaces.

Drugs and alcohol contribute to lost working days and reduced productivity, costing the country as much as £6 billion – not to mention the strain that the related health issues put on the NHS. Poor decisions, impaired judgement, and reduced awareness can all lead to injuries; all it takes is just one person in a workplace affected by drugs or alcohol to put everyone at risk. This drug and alcohol awareness training course will make your workplace safer, increase productivity, and save money by raising awareness of the effects that drugs and alcohol have on an individual, their colleagues, and the wider workplace.
