About this course

It's estimated that around 555,000 workplace injuries happen every single year in UK workplaces.

It's therefore essential that workplaces have the correct people in place to deal with potentially life-threatening situations and that other staff have a good understanding of how to react in an emergency.

This IIRSM approved First Aid at work refresher training is the perfect course for workplaces of all sizes, regardless of their industry. Using high-quality video examples, your staff will gain a solid understanding of:

  • the need for a first aider to be able to record incidents, prevent cross-infection, understand their role and assess situations quickly to act safely and effectively
  • how to administer first aid to those who are; unconscious, choking, burned, wounded and bleeding or someone suffering from shock
  • how to administer first aid for minor injuries (cuts, grazes, bruises, minor burns, etc.)
  • how to administer CPR and how to use an AED
  • as well as how to administer first aid to a casualty with: injuries to bones, muscles, chest injuries, eye injuries, poisoning, anaphylaxis
  • be able to recognise signs of a heart attack, stroke, epileptic seizures, asthma attacks or diabetes and provide first aid

Please note that this First Aid online refresher training course does not give you full competency in First Aid. It provides general awareness but should not be used as a replacement for practical training. Always seek medical advice in case of an emergency.

Our other online first aid courses include First Aid Requirements & RIDDOR and First Aid Appointed Person Training.

I have done several First Aid courses in the past, started off with a one day course and did a three day First Aid at work course at one stage. In between I have done an on line course during Covid which was quite detailed. Fortunately or unfortunately as the case may be I have never had to put anything much seriously into practice so each time I do a course it is a case of refreshing knowledge rather than gaining by practice. This course did just that in a quite simple and straightforward way. Whilst some areas are covered very quickly it must be quite effective as I seemed to be able to score high in the test without too much head scratching.

Very good overall

Why is this First Aid refresher training courseimportant?

Compliance

It's important that you comply with the law and know the ways in which it affects you and the way you work.

The First Aid Regulations 1981

The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work.

It’s a legal requirement to have at least one person first aid trained, if you have up to 25 employees. If you have more than 50 employees, only one first aider for every 100 employees is the guidance, so if you have 101 employees, you need at least two first aid trained workers.

3.—(1) An employer shall provide, or ensure that there are provided, such equipment and facilities as are adequate and appropriate in the circumstances for enabling first-aid to be rendered to his employees if they are injured or become ill at work.
