Duty of Care Awareness Training

Our Duty of Care Awareness Training explains the need to promote wellbeing and make sure that people in Care are kept safe for harm, abuse and injury.

The duty of care is a legal requirement and comes with the job role for any Care worker. It is part of the code of conduct for healthcare support workers and adult social care workers in England and applies as soon as someone receives treatment or care. Employees also have a duty of care to other workers. 

Standard 3 of the Care Certificate - Duty of Care - requires staff to:

• Understand how a duty of care contributes to a safe practice
• Understand what support is available to address issues regarding the duty of care
• Deal with comments or complaints
• Deal with incidents, near misses or errors
• How to deal with difficult situations and confrontations

This course works alongside our 14 other awareness courses that make up the Care Certificate. 

You can access our free worksheet that has been designed to accompany our online Duty of Care Awareness Training course. In each section, there is a box for you to
tick when you have watched the relevant slide in our course. You can also take notes that will help you during your practical assessment at work.

This course equips learners with the knowledge that's required to be put into practice in the workplace, whereby they can do the 'practical' part of their training, followed by having the Care Certificate supplied to them by their management as they meet the required standards. These courses provide part of training but practical training is still required to obtain the care certificate.
