I regularly make food at the workplace. Little did I know I could be transmitting dangerous diseases to myself, my colleagues and my loved ones. Thanks to the great work over at iHasco I now know everything to make sure my conduct is safe! It really makes me feel good and warm inside now that I am so safe. Big shout out to everyone who made this course possible. My favourite part was when they shares some facts and figures on bacteria. I was like WOW this is so cool and important. Like why is nobody talking about bacteria??? I think really when I attempt to contextualize the broader cultural and social implications of this safety training, it reminds me of my time spent living in a fraternity as a young student. During this tumultuous period of my life, I lived in a house with many rats in the cellar. This was really gross and made me feel on edge and unhygienic. At the same time, I had a rich and vibrant social life. Now one might be lead to conclude that a lack of hygiene goes hand in hand with a fun life. Especially as having a sneaky cigarette feels amazing but is also really bad for public health. But after completing this course I have felt like I had the space and recognition to reflect on this assumption. I now think that I can have a social life and minimize bacteria in the workplace. One of my favourite writers is the late neo-marxist philosopher Antonio Gramsci. I am particularly interested (from a personal perspectice) in his writing on the manner in which capitalism captures the social and cultural spheres of reproduction, so as to legitimize itself to everyone. In terms of how this relates to the iHasco course, you would be surprised by the link. 10/10 course.
