Poor
The training was poor. The training had an unclear audience – detailed jargon descriptions of many processes that are not relevant for those working in social care but not actually making the assessments. And yet it was not clearly aimed at assessors either because there was a lot of irrelevant information for assessors. There should be separate courses for separate audiences. The course also included information on the Care Inspectorate regulator in Scotland when DOLS do not exist in Scotland. I had to retake the test at the end because the questions were unclear and confusing. For example, asking 'who covers the record keeping' – what does covers mean? I am an experienced social worker and could not understand many of the questions so those unfamiliar would stand even less chance.
I complete the dols applications at my work place, However i have never had to know the different colours of the paperwork so not sure if this needs to be in the training

Review
The course is a lot to take in, and the format is very fast!! I personally like to take notes as I’m doing my courses, but felt like I need to be a shorthand pro to write notes!

This course is very relevant to mental health support workers and their profession.
The presentation of the course makes it easy for one to understand different areas of issues about mental health problems.
