About this course

The HSE state that all employers must provide information, training and instruction to all staff who work with hazardous substances. This also includes cleaning staff and maintenance staff.

It is estimated that hazardous substances account for around 650,000 deaths every year, making it one of the biggest contributors to occupational deaths worldwide. By providing effective COSHH training online, employers can help to ensure that everyone in the workplace is competent to carry out their work safely.

Our online COSHH training course identifies hazardous substances, how they can be harmful, everyday storage, COSHH Risk Assessments and what they are used for.

All levels of staff and management should be able to:

  • recognise the potential hazards posed by their work
  • be able to take action to reduce or eliminate the risks with suitable control measures against COSHH
  • understand the role of personal protection in ensuring good occupational health

Equip your staff with the knowledge needed to safely store hazardous chemicals and how to respond if they are exposed to hazardous chemicals; as well as giving them a solid understanding of the hazard symbols and the ‘6 simple steps’.

Excellent well presented.

I recently completed the IHASCO COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) course and found it to be extremely informative, engaging, and easy to follow. The course content was presented in a clear and practical manner, making complex legal and safety requirements straightforward to understand. The training provided a comprehensive overview of COSHH regulations, including the identification of hazardous substances, understanding safety data sheets (SDS), recognising exposure routes, implementing appropriate control measures, and the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Real-world examples and workplace scenarios helped to reinforce key learning points and demonstrate how COSHH principles should be applied in practice. I particularly appreciated the interactive format and concise modules, which maintained engagement throughout while allowing the information to be easily absorbed. The knowledge checks helped confirm understanding and ensured the key messages were retained. This course is highly beneficial for anyone who works with or manages hazardous substances and would be a valuable addition to any organisation's health and safety training programme. I would highly recommend IHASCO's COSHH training for its professionalism, relevance, and practical approach to workplace safety.

Why is this training important?

Compliance

It’s important that you comply with the law and know the ways in which it affects you and the way you work.

Our COSHH training will help you and your employees gain a deeper understanding of COSHH regulations and the impact that they have on your work.

The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 places duties on employers to protect employees (and anyone else who comes into the workplace) from the hazards of substances used in that work environment. It requires that potential risk must be assessed; any potential exposure controlled; procedures must be put in place to deal with accidents, incidents and emergencies; and finally, that information, instruction and training must be supplied for persons who may be exposed to substances hazardous to health.

Failing to comply with HSE’s COSHH guidelines can result in prosecution, fines, and/or imprisonment. Discover our COSHH training courses to protect yourself and your workers today.
