Long-Format Way to Lose Attention

This exercise is one in tedium. Rather than ascertaining knowledge first, then educating to fill the gaps, it regurgitates GCSE and SAT level knowledge (alongside the fire safety counterpart – survey there did not exist), in such a restricted format that my attention drifted in about 18 seconds. The actual information I learned came from google when I hit a question I did not know the answer to, and so did the research (blue for powder!), having played all the videos simultaneously across 20+ tabs while I did other work, before simply taking the test. This format is disingenuous, and exists as a tick box exercise to claim education, despite no effort to be educational, to teach in a meaningful way, not to accurate assess engagement. Speaking to a colleague who did the course before me, his answers to my occasional "The answer to X is Y, right?" was universally "I dunno, I think so", exemplifying the meaninglessness of the courses. Answering a couple of questions deliberately incorrectly showed no effort to remedy lack of knowledge either. Rather than explaining, it simply directs you to check [SECTION]. My advice – use pre-questions to establish knowledge and don't reteach content the participant knows, correct mistakes with explanations rather than "that's not right, perhaps you should check section X", and don't force video format – provide transcripts or alternative methods to engage. More than a paragraph, but this was abysmal.

It was useful. I've worked in an office and walked past fire extinguishers but never knew how to use them, nor the dangers of using them incorrectly.

much better

This was a much better course than the first course. There were none of the problems I experienced with the first course concerning synchronicity between sound and vision which meant the data was easier to digest.

easy enough to do
