SECTION 1

Right now, how many organisations do you think have access to your personal data? 10? 20 organisations? It’s probably a lot more than you think! The General Data Protection Regulation is there to stop personal data being misused or given to people who shouldn’t have it. In this section, we cover personal data, what it is and how it should or shouldn't be used.

The principles of processing data
SECTION 2

Everyone who uses personal data has to follow strict rules and you’ll learn about these as the principles of data protection. They ensure fair treatment of personal data for everyone whose data is held and used by any organisation. Your organisation will have its own policies and procedures in place to protect personal data, which will include details specific to your workplace.

The security of GDPR
SECTION 3

The sixth principle is all about keeping personal data safe and secure. It’s about protecting data from accidental or deliberate loss, destruction, damage or unauthorised access. In this section, we’re looking at some of the things you can do to help safeguard the personal data you use.

Why is this training important?

COMPLIANCE

It's important that you comply with the law and know the ways in which it affects you and the way you work.

As a leading provider of HR Compliance eLearning, our experts are often asked about the GDPR. We've collected all of those questions and answered them for you...

When did the GDPR come into effect?

The GDPR was approved and adopted by the EU Parliament in April 2016. After 2 years, the regulation took effect and the GDPR came into force on 25th May 2018.

What is personal data?

Any data which can personally identify an individual - whether by itself or when combined with other pieces of information - is considered personal data. If that information has the potential to cause harm then it is considered a special category of personal data - things like bank details, sexual orientation, or political opinions, for example.

Business benefits

The GDPR is an important piece of legislation which requires organisations to be transparent with their data use, uphold people's rights regarding their data, and to always make sure it's protected and kept secure.

To comply with the Regulation, it's important that all relevant members of staff are made aware of their roles and responsibilities. However, this isn't just a one-off task; it's crucial that the information stays fresh in staff member's minds, helping your organisation stay compliant whilst avoiding a data breach which could cost you both your reputation and a massive fine. This GDPR Refresher Course is perfect for doing just that; it's been designed for people who have already taken GDPR training but need a recap or a reminder of the essential information and all in the shortest possible time.
