  3. 3 Integrity & Confidentiality
Colourful network of data illustration - GDPR Training
The first section of our GDPR training gives an introduction to the new regulations.
SECTION 1

Right now, how many organisations do you think have access to your personal data? 10? 20 organisations? It’s probably a lot more than you think!  This section looks at what is included as personal data, what is meant by ‘processing’ this type of data and what rights each of us has over our own personal data.

The GDPR will change the way data is processed.
SECTION 2

Everyone who uses personal data has to follow strict rules and you’ll learn about these as the principles of data protection. They’re important, as they help you and your organisation ensure that personal data is used in a way that protects the rights of the people whose data it is, and following them is key to complying with the GDPR. This section looks at each of the Principles of Data Protection in turn, covering privacy notices and fair processing notices and the need for explicit consent.

Learn how to keep peoples data secure with our GDPR Essentials training.
SECTION 3

In this section, we’re looking at who’s responsible for keeping personal information safe and how this can be done – such as through day-to-day good practice and good computer security. The sixth principle is all about keeping personal data safe and secure. It’s about protecting data from accidental or deliberate loss, destruction, damage or unauthorised access.

ABOUT THIS COURSE

The General Data Protection Regulation is intended to unify and strengthen data protection for everyone within the European Union.

After concerns were raised about the 'control' of personal information within the EU, it was decided that a regulation should be put in place to give control back to the citizens. The government has confirmed that the UK’s decision to leave the EU will not affect the commencement of the GDPR.

The GDPR regulations were enforced on 25th May 2018, this GDPR Training programme is an ideal way of teaching staff about the new regulations in an engaging and practical way.

Our GDPR Essentials Training will teach you about the fundamental requirements needed to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation. Our course is CPD accredited and provides certificates upon completion, helping you to comply with the GDPR.

Why is this training important?

COMPLIANCE

It's important that you comply with the law and know the ways in which it affects you and the way you work.

When was the GDPR be enforced?

The GDPR was enforced on the 25th of May 2018. All organisations must now be fully GDPR compliant.

Who will the GDPR affect?

The GDPR applies to personal data, so anyone handling or processing personal data will undoubtedly feel the effects of GDPR and will need to prepare accordingly for its enforcement.

What constitutes as personal data?

Current data protection directives state that personal data is "any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person ("data subject");", this can include a name, email address, posts on social media, medical information, photos or even a computer IP address.

What are the penalties for non-compliance?

Organisations can now be fined 4% of their annual turnover or in more serious cases - €20 million! (This is the maximum fine that can be imposed for the most serious infringements).

Business benefits

The GDPR is an important piece of legislation which gives people control over their own personal data.

It requires organisations to be transparent with their data use, to uphold people's rights regarding their data, and to always make sure it's protected and kept secure. The Regulation requires that all relevant staff are suitably trained to make sure that they're aware of their responsibilities and their role in keeping data safe. Our GDPR Essentials course does this for you; it helps you comply by providing a broad overview of the requirements of the GDPR, by highlighting the importance of compliance, and by explaining the rights individuals have over their own data.
