May 13 marks the start of Learning at Work Week 2024, an annual awareness campaign that aims to put a spotlight on the importance and benefits of continual learning and development.

This year’s theme is “learning power”, which explores how lifelong and continual learning gives us power to change, grow and achieve our individual, team and organisational goals.

There are a number of benefits for getting involved in Learning at Work Week. Ultimately, they all depend on the goals of your business, but here’s what you can expect:

  • Increase employee engagement
  • Change attitudes towards learning and work
  • Increase awareness of opportunities to learn
  • Address skill and learning gaps
  • Highlight business priorities and agendas

How to get involved in Learning at Work Week

Each year, thousands of businesses run campaigns and activities which promote a learning culture and engage employees in learning.

Celebrating Learning at Work Week doesn't have to be complicated. Here are some effective ways to engage your team and promote a learning culture within your organisation...

Recognising staff - Celebrate the achievements of those who actively participate in learning and development activities. Acknowledging their efforts can boost morale and encourage others to follow suit.

Launch a learning challenge - Create a friendly competition based around learning new skills or completing certain training modules. Offering rewards can be an excellent incentive for participation.

Invite guest speakers - Bring in external experts to discuss topics relevant to your industry or general professional development. These sessions can provide fresh perspectives and inspire your team.

Provide learning resources - Whether it’s purchasing a book, or enrolling them on a new training course, providing your team with new resources can re-spark their interest in learning.
