Not very relevant

This course has reminded me to lift properly at all times, and has made me focus on the risks in not doing so in my own personal life. However, the content was not highly relevant to myself, I am just a volunteer who shops for people who are unable to get out and I would not want to get involved in the actions that were demonstrated. This seems to be aimed at professional carers with access to risk assessments. For me, it would have been helpful to see instructions as to get someone into and out of a car passenger seat. Thank you.

ok

Very similar to the face to face training I had a while back.

Course ok

A lot of this course is not relevant to my job. This is clearly designed for people working in a care home. I do not, so a lot of the course was irrelevant.

I found it hard going.

There was so much information to take in. I was overwhelmed with facts and visual images. I took time out. I thought I couldn’t hack it. The questions came and they were easy.

Comprehensive... but out of date

Thorough training on lifting and moving techniques with useful diagrams and videos. However, the information and language used particularly in the section regarding spinal injury is out of date. Recent evidence has disproven the perceived risk of spinal flexion during lifting and the nocebic and scare-mongering language used can be more harmful than good. Peter O'Sullivan (Physio & researcher) is an excellent source of up-to-date research in this area.

clear but not fully relevant

Course is clear in the way it addresses content. For my setting though, most common lift is not covered and significant proportion is for tasks we don't do/equipment we don't have

Real people move about so much more.

As far as paper training goes, it's good, but really doesn't cover real people with limited understanding and movement

It was easy to follow.

It was informative and easy to understand. No worse than any other moving and handling courses I have done but obviously it is a practical course so online will always have its shortcomings.

too involved for voluntary work in my ro

I suspect that this may be good for those employed in care homes, but for volunteers in a more social role much of the session was inappropriate.

Great course

A good training to refresh your memory. There were some tricky questions but it helped me to learn new things. Overall I enjoyed the course.
