About this course

A bias is a judgement or opinion that’s based on our own thoughts about someone or something - rather than the reality or the facts. Biases are natural (we can’t help having them) but they shouldn’t go unchallenged.

We have conscious biases which are biases we’re aware of, and we have unconscious biases which we’re unaware of - but they are stored away in our mind and they still affect what we think and how we behave.

This Unconscious Bias Training course has been created to explain how you can identify your own unconscious biases and any that exist in your workplace. It looks at how they affect decision making, working relationships and your organisation’s culture. Fundamentally, this training offers practical tools for reducing the negative impact that unconscious bias can have on your organisation.

By identifying, challenging and reducing bias, management can create a more communicative, diverse and successful workforce.

This course works in conjunction with Unconscious Bias for Employees, and it’s the perfect partner for both Equality & Diversity, and Bullying & Harassment for Managers.

A good overview and practical examples
RatingRatingRatingRatingRating

Generally very good, I found some examples a little difficult and unreal. For example one was asked to consider why one did not expect it when an individual in a meeting who was speaking good English suddenly spoke in a different language when taking a phone call. It is obvious that one would not expect that because it does not routinely happen. The only issue would be if one thought of the person negatively as a result. One was also asked to consider unconscious bias based on a person's appearance. Some roles require a smart appearance and whilst one should not treat negatively aspects of appearance which are beyond an individual's control, it would be reasonable to consider someone attending an interview that had no regard for smartness and appearance more negatively than someone who did, particularly for a role requiring smart appearance.

Very enlightening and informative

Very enlightening and informative !!! There are things we take for granted and also those we do not realise we are doing subconsciously. This training highlights both. A positive reminder and informed "balance and checks".
