About this course

Social media has changed the way the world interacts with each other, both personally and professionally. In fact, the average internet user spends 145 minutes per day on social media!

With that said, there are a number of risks associated with social media usage that both organisations and their employees must be aware of and know how to mitigate.

This short online Social Media Awareness course explores how social media might be used at work, and also when it shouldn't be used. Additionally, it covers the importance of following an organisation's policies and procedures surrounding social media usage and why publicly sharing confidential or private information can be extremely damaging.

This Social Media Awareness course isn't just for those who work in Marketing or Advertising either, it's for anyone who might use social media within the workplace, for whatever reason.

It covered all the main topics
RatingRatingRatingRatingRating

thought it was ok, nothing mind blowing, it covered the main points including; how it affects your employer, which was good but on the whole did not introduce anything new to me. I felt it focused a little too much on the basics, which most people will be aware of but I suppose it has to cover all levels of understanding. The points on work and personal social media posts potentially impacting your employer were good, it is an area that I want employees to be aware of, as I don’t think that some know that if their place of work is identified on their social media by any posts that could be perceived as negative or inappropriate could cause reputational damage to their employer through association. I did not think the test was very good, it did not really touch on some of the key points including; impacts on your employer so would worry that some topics would not be consolidated

Why is this training important?

Business benefits

Social media is often depicted as a pass time to be enjoyed outside of working hours, but in the modern workplace social media usage is ever increasing. Many professionals are divided on whether social media in the workplace is helpful or harmful, but the fact is that social media is here to stay and its usage will likely continue to increase.

With that said, those using social media must be aware of the implications of using these platforms inproperly.

Providing employees with awareness training, as well as appropriate policies and procedures, will help to ensure that social media usage is safe.
