About this course

Health & Safety at work is not just a tickbox exercise - effective health and safety has many benefits, including safer, happier, and healthier employees; a better company reputation; and a lower accident rate. It also helps to reduce absenteeism. So, it’s important to get it right!

This Health and Safety Training for Managers & Supervisors course has been written for employers, managers and supervisors who have a responsibility for the Health & Safety of all personnel within their organisation.

The course has been designed to use as a concise and easy-to-follow guide, which leads Health & Safety Managers through the necessary steps to create a safer working environment and to comply with current legislation, such as the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.

This e-learning course is not designed to replace practical face-to-face training and should be used in addition to help raise general awareness of Health & Safety in the workplace.

Very good and to the point, will help managers or supervisors have a better understanding and if new to their position and have not been responsibly for health and safety of a team this would give then a good understanding before doing "IOSH" workshop.

Comprehensive and easy to understand

This is a good course. I'd have given it 5 stars if it had some/more reference to mental health and safety, rather than just focusing on physical health. It's also light on info for office-based work where the risk is less obvious than, eg using plant and machinery.

Good.

Why is this training important?

Compliance

It's important that you comply with the law and know the ways in which it affects you and the way you work.

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 set out the general duties employers have toward employees and members of the public, and the duties employees have to themselves and others. Any director, manager, secretary or similar officer can be held responsible for breaches of these Acts.

Essentially, the law states that everyone must take ‘reasonably practicable’ precautions and actions to reduce risk in their workplace, as well as appointing competent people to specific Health and Safety duties and providing appropriate information and training.

Every employer must ensure that their employees are provided with adequate health and safety training

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, Chapter 13 (2)

Every employer shall make and give effect to such arrangements as are appropriate, having regard to the nature of his activities and the size of his undertaking, for the effective planning, organisation, control, monitoring and review of the preventive and protective measures.
