SECTION 1
This section covers the basics - including how fire spreads through a building, the dangers of smoke, the causes and costs of fires in schools, how to reduce the risks of fire and understanding the meaning of different types of signs and where they should be placed.
SECTION 2
This section explains the role of the Fire Warden and the importance of a safe working environment, including the need for a fire emergency plan and fire evacuation plan. It explains what a fire risk assessment is and what it means to the Fire Warden. It looks at people who may be at particular risk, explaining what personal emergency evacuation plans are and who may need them. It includes a checklist for the Fire Warden.
SECTION 3
This section looks at human behaviour and how people react in fire-related situations – demonstrating how critical the role of a Fire Warden is. It explains the procedures the Fire Warden needs to follow to conduct a safe evacuation in a school and the importance of planning and conducting fire evacuation drills.
SECTION 4
This section looks at and explains the different classes of fire, the different types of fire extinguisher and how to operate them – and which extinguishers to use on each class of fire.
SECTION 5
This presenter-led section of the Fire Warden course explains the legislation in a straightforward way. It is simple to understand and concentrates on the relevant part of the legislation

This Fire Warden Training in Education Programme has been written for designated employees within schools, colleges and other educational institutes.
A complete in-depth Fire Warden e-learning course designed to equip you with the knowledge you need to become a fully trained Fire Warden or Fire Marshal in a school. This course provides everything you need to demonstrate competence in this designated role.

A very informative course , which I thoroughly enjoyed
Invaluable course
Noticed several changes since I last did this training. It was more specific and highlighted the importance of training and knowing the rules and regulations relevant to where I work, together with how to use fire extinguishers safely and on which type of fire.
95 slides felt too many
A a Fire Warden in a PFI school which is managed by Mitie this training was too detailed for what I needed to be as Mitie take care of most of the issues within the training.

Unnecessary course for me
As I have said previously after completing this course, this is not relevant to my job. I check the classroom and toilet area in the event of the fire alarm being activated. We don’t have fire extinguishers in our school and I don’t check the fire alarm or advise other staff and visitors of the procedure to be followed in the event of a fire. It took 2 and 3/4 hours to complete this course and in my opinion my time could have been much better spent, especially as I have already completed the more basic fire training which is more relevant and suitable for my level of responsibility.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
It is a legal requirement that your establishment appoints a Fire Warden (or 'Fire Marshal'). The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 clearly states that a competent person with the appropriate skills, knowledge and training should be present and capable of following the correct emergency procedures should they become necessary.
The responsible person (property owner, company director etc) must, where necessary, nominate competent persons to implement those measures and ensure that the number of such persons, their training and the equipment available to them are adequate, taking into account the size of, and the specific hazards involved in, the premises concerned...
