This training course is broken down into 2 sections

SECTION 1
A banksman - sometimes called a signaller - is a worker on a site who supervises the movement of vehicles and heavy machinery or equipment - these things are known as “workplace transport”. In this section, we will be looking at the role and the duties of a banksman, employer responsibilities and reversing.
SECTION 2
In this final section, we’ll take you through the essential banksman hand signals that are used throughout the UK and Europe. This includes; stop, start & end, move towards & move away, right & left, horizontal distance & vertical distance, raise & lower, danger, plus, some additional information.
About this course
A vehicle banksman is a person who is in charge of directing the movements of large vehicles on a site by using a system of hand signals or a radio link in order to reduce the risk of these accidents occurring. A banksman makes sure that any manoeuvres made during loading and unloading will not put the driver, or anyone else, in danger.
Most of these accidents can be avoided by taking simple precautions, which we explain in detail throughout this training course.
Designed for everybody involved in manoeuvring, loading and unloading vehicles, this course teaches the user how to safely guide large goods vehicles, both rigid and articulated, using the HSE's approved code of signals.
This online course does not replace the practical training you need, nor does it mean you’ll be classed as ‘competent’ by your employer - but - it does offer two important things. First, it provides you with vital tools and information if someone is new to banksman operations; and secondly, it acts as a refresher for anyone with existing experience who needs a reminder of the essentials.

Why is this training important?
Compliance
It's important that you comply with the law and know the ways in which it affects you and the way you work.
This training course covers the standard signals that are given in the Health and Safety (Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996.
Failure to comply with these regulations could result in prosecution for the individuals and organisations involved, so it is essential that your organisation effectively trains staff in the correct procedure to follow when carrying out a manoeuvring task involving a large vehicle.
Additionally, as part of The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998, it is recommended that organisations have a responsible banksman and use a recognised signalling system.
