Covered in this course

The Administering Medication in Education Training course is broken down into 4 sections.

1) The Law and School Policy

The first section of the course sets the foundations of medication administration in schools; it covers everyone’s legal responsibilities, from school governors to parents and teaching staff; and then goes on to show what a school’s medication policy should contain.

2) Medication

This section covers medication itself; it looks at the different categories of medication, how to work out dosages, how to read prescription labels, and how to safely store and dispose of medication.

3) Handling and Administrating Medication

This third section is all about processes. It covers the legal and best-practice processes that need to be considered when giving medication to children in schools. This includes how to look after children who self-medicate; what to do if you need to covertly administer medication; and how to manage emergency medication.

4) Managing Medical Needs

The final section goes into more detail and takes a close look at how to administer medication to children with diabetes, eczema, asthma, and severe allergies.

Administering Medication in Education Certificate

Each of our courses ends with a multiple choice test to measure your knowledge of the material.

This Administering Medication in Education Training course concludes with a 20 question multiple choice test with a printable certificate. In addition, brief in-course questionnaires guide the user through the sections of the training and are designed to reinforce learning and ensure maximum user engagement throughout.
