About this course
For many smaller low-risk companies, the legal minimum for first aid provision is to have someone in their company who simply looks after first aid - this is the First Aid Appointed Person.
Over 600,000 non-fatal injuries happen in the workplace each year in the UK - it is therefore essential that there is at least one person available at all times to deal with any potential accidents and injuries.
Our First Aid Appointed Person training programme explains exactly what the role of First Aid Appointed Person requires a member of staff to do, as well as introducing best practices in the event of an accident or injury at work and managing first aid kits.
It is intended that our programme is used alongside First Aid Requirements in the Workplace (including RIDDOR). This programme will indicate the need for a first aid appointed person, as well as explaining the benefits to your organisation. Free trial and online demo available.
This eLearning course only provides awareness education. Face to face training would be needed in addition in order to complete all-round skills and knowledge to be able to carry this forward practically in your organisation.

Why is this training important?
Compliance
It's important that you comply with the law and know the ways in which it affects you and the way you work.
The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981
The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 requires employers to:
- Provide adequate and appropriate first aid equipment
- Provide adequate and appropriate first aid facilities
- Provide adequate and appropriate first aid personnel
- Provide Risk Assessments
- Inform Employees of the First Aid arrangements
An employer shall provide, or ensure that there are provided, such equipment and facilities as are adequate and appropriate in the circumstances for enabling first-aid to be rendered to his employees if they are injured or become ill at work.
The legal minimum requirement is that someone is appointed to look after first aid requirements. They are not required to administer first aid and so do not need full first aid training, but they must be present to take charge if someone is injured or becomes ill at work. The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 must be followed by ALL workplaces, including those with fewer than 5 employees.
